McKay, Portnacou, Loch Eriboll, Sutherlandshire, departed Portnacou for fishing, in ballast, 2 lives lost, wind S.E.8, foundered, total loss, off Rispond, Loch Eriboll, Sutherlandshire. [Record received incomplete].

NMRS, MS/829/69 (no. 3295).

(Classified as wooden smack, in ballast: date of loss cited as 16 December 1882). George: this vessel foundered off Rispond, Loch Eriboll. Capt. MacKay.

Not registered. Built 1872. 1 ton [unspecified].

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. Portnacou is not noted as such on the 1997 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map, but may be tentatively equated with Portnancon [name: NC 427 603], on the W side of Loch Eriboll.
