A Roman signal-station, 80ft in diameter, surrounded by a ditch 3ft deep, was excavated in 1900 (Christison 1901) when four post-holes were found in the centre, and in 1965 (Robertson 1965).

Excavated in April 1965 by Hunterian Museum, Glasgow University and Perth Natur Hist Soc. Further excavation in April 1966 unearthed a single potsherd - a mortarium fragment of undoubted Flavian (late 1st century) date.

A Roman signal station measuring 23.0m diameter with a narrow causeway on the NW sector. There are fragmentary traces of the bank round the counterscarp of the ditch. Potsherd in Hunterian Museum.
