Archaeology Notes

NN86SE 28 8563 6275

NN 8563 6275. Situated on a spur is a solitary stone-walled hut, measuring 8.5m internal diameter within a turf-covered wall 0.3m high and spread to 2.5m. The SSW arc has slipped down the slope, and the position of the entrance is uncertain. On the level area to the N of the hut are about six scattered stone clearance heaps, but no measurable plots are discernible.

Surveyed at 1:10,000.

Visited by OS (N K B) 25 February 1976.

There are small cairns and traces of stony banks to the NE of the hut-circle, up to 100m from it.
