Project (1997)
The Public Monuments and Sculpture Association (http://www.pmsa.org.uk/) set up a National Recording Project in 1997 with the aim of making a survey of public monuments and sculpture in Britain ranging from medieval monuments to the most contemporary works. Information from the Edinburgh project was added to the RCAHMS database in October 2010 and again in 2012.
The PMSA (Public Monuments and Sculpture Association) Edinburgh Sculpture Project has been supported by Eastern Photocolour, Edinburgh College of Art, the Edinburgh World Heritage Trust, Historic Scotland, the Hope Scott Trust, The Old Edinburgh Club, the Pilgrim Trust, the RCAHMS, and the Scottish Archive Network.

The Walled Garden is enclosed on three sides by a rubble wall with sandstone slab coping. The main entrance is in the east wall, and contains a 1970 gate designed by Schomberg Scott. There are minor doorways in the north and west walls.
Within the walled garden are a number of structures including a timber framed greenhouse and the bothy. A sundial dated to 1700 is located in the south of the garden, possibly not its original position, and is built of ashlar.
The bothy is located adjacent to the west wall, and is built of rubble with a slate roof and barred windows.
The garden also contains a number of pieces of late 19th century decorative wrought-iron work designed by Thomas Gibson-Carmichael.
