Archaeology Notes

NT71NE 165 7822 1959

This settlement is situated on the summit of Hownam Steeple and has been recorded on oblique aerial photographs (RCAHMSAP 2000). It is roughly oval on plan and what may be the stances of several timber house can be seen in the interior, along with at least one small quarry. There is a small area of straight rig on a terrace to the ESE of the settlement.
