Wick Bay [name centred ND 376 506].

22 August 1871, VINE, of Wick, 13 yrs old, lug [lugger], 14 tons, 5 crew, departed Wick for fishing, in ballast, collision, partial loss, 1 life lost, wind S6, 2 or 3 miles off Wick Bay.

22 August 1871, rescuing the crews of two fishing boats which, on returning from their fishing ground, came into collision, under full sail, in Wick Bay, and both boats sank. The crews, with the exception of one man who was drowned, were saved by the persons named. Awards granted out of the Mercantile Marine Fund: George Banks, Donald Banks, Donald Banks, George Banks (of the fishing boat MARY ANN of Wick), £1 each.
