Tobermory, 10th Sept. The JOHN (smack) of Rush, port of Dublin, Herbert, from Orkney to Dublin, with herrings, got ashore in Salem Bay, Mull, on the night of 6th Sept.: cargo discharging.

The location of this loss may be tentatively identified as Salen Bay, Loch Sunart. Salem Bay, Sound of Mull cannot be identified from the available map evidence.

The vessel was probably registered at Rush, Co Dublin, as it sailed from Rush, Port of Dublin.
