Tobermory, 30th May. 'The PERSEVERANCE, Gowan, from Liverpool to Wick, struck on a sunken rock off Ardnamurchan, 28th instant, and remains: crew saved.'

It remains uncertain whereabluts this vessel was lost off the extensive peninsula. The loss probably took place in the Sound of Mull, rather than in Loch Sunart.
