Two 'L' type aircraft sheds (hangars) have been idenfied from RAF WW II oblique air photographs (NLA 3, 10-11, flown 23 February 1941) on the western perimeter of airfield adjacent to Kinloss Primary School. This type of hangar was built to a 1939 design by Teeside Bridge & Engineering Co. Ltd to supplement aircraft storage. They measure 300ft by 167ft with a clear opening of 70ft.

The two hangars are shown on the current OS 1:2500 scale digital maps.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), January 2004

Two concrete L type aircraft hangars situated at the SW perimeter of the airfield. Both are grass covered, one in use as a vehicle repair shed the other for storage. The buildings have additions to allow the servicing of motor vehicles and general maintenance. At the W end of the southerly hangar is a small vehicle fuelling point and on the N side of this building one of the few surviving earth covered World War II period air-raid shelters.

The L shed was produced by the Teesside Birdge and Engineering Co. Ltd. and were mainly for aircraft storage and maintenance airfields. The sliding doors give a clearance of over 21m (70ft).
