(NN 8388 0978) Stone coffin containing Human Remains found AD 1825 (NAT)

One of the sites of stone coffins surveyed in connection with the Ardoch Fort; only collectively referred to in ONB.

Name Book 1863.

Apart from a turf-covered wall (for which, see NN80NW 13) nothing significant was found at this site. No further information was found locally.

Visited by OS (R D) 9 June 1967.

The cited location of this discovery falls immediately S of the Roman fort NN80NW 10, and within the Scheduled area of the 'Ardoch, Roman military complex 900m NNE of Ardoch Bridge...'
