A barrage balloon mooring site has been identified from postwar vertical air photographs (106G UK 1326, 5050-52, flown 28 March 1946) on the E side of the road about 150m NE of the harbour in woodland known as Binning Strip. It is not known whether anything survives in the area now given over as a public park.
