Archaeology Notes

NN74NE 8 7636 4962.

There are ten cup-marks on a large harp-shaped boulder 8 or 9ft long by 6 or 7ft wide and 4ft high, on the hillside 500 yds above Wester Litigan and about the same distance south-west from Garth Castle. (Area NN 762 500) The stone had been damaged but it was proposed to restore it.

J M Gow 1886

A cup-marked boulder at NN 7636 4962. The boulder has split even more than Gow's sketch shows along its SE side, and a portion containing five of the cups has disappeared.

Surveyed at 1:10 000.

Visited by OS (JM) 21 November 1974.
