(Centred at NN 768 204) A group of four cairns (A, B, C and D) of which 'C' may be doubtful. 'D' is the remains of a cairn-circle with 4 big stones in situ, and one hole. 5 firs growing on it.
OS 6" map annotated by O G S Crawford, 10 June 1936.
Callander agrees but thinks 'C' is a round cairn, and 'D' a denuded cairn with an internal setting of stones.
OS 6" map annotated by J G Callander, 2 July 1936.
A, B and D, situated on the edge of the lower terrace of the Water of Ruchill at about 200ft OD, are almost certainly barrows; there are many similar examples in Strath Earn and Strath Tay (M E C Stewart 1961).
'C' - NN 7684 2038 - is probably a natural mound on which field clearance has been deposited.
'A' - NN 7673 2043 - measures c.24.0m N-S by 20.0m transversely and 0.7m in height. It is contained by a low drystone wall which may be a plantation ring, but it may also be a kerb similar to that surrounding the Neolithic round barrow at Pitnacree Perthshire (J M Coles and D D A Simpson 1965).
'B' - NN 7668 2038 - a round barrow c.11.0m in diameter and 1.4m in height, also surrounded by a drystone kerb similar to 'A'.
'D' - NN 7691 2032 - a round barrow c.14.0m in diameter and 0.6m in height, with two earthfast stones in the centre. Formerly planted with fir trees.
Surveyed at 1/2500.

(NN 7692 2032: equated to 'D' of NN72SE 12). About 122m SE of the old magazine (NN72SE 232.00), there is a grass-covered barrow or cairn, the outline of which is obscured by extensive field clearance. It is situated on a slight elevation in flat arable ground, and has probably measured about 20m in diameter by 2m in height. The rotted remains of tree-stumps are evident, as are the rusted remains of agricultural machinery.
There is a slight depression in the summit , but no trenching is apparent. Rabbit scrapes around the summit indicate that the body of the mound is largely of sandy composition.
