Princes Terrace, Prince Albert Road, 1868, James Thomson
Grand classical terrace of twelve houses with round-headed dormers. Fine Italianate ashlar details, cast-iron balustrades linking front dormers, solid stone balustrades to rear. Unusual bay windows to south-facing rear, overlooking the private communal garden. Plans are mirrored about the central pair of houses. Interior of end terrace house, No 1, c.1880, James Miller for ship-owner William Henderson. Unusual double glazing system with leaded lights, elaborate stained glass in front door. Panelled entrance hall, with arcade screening hall at right, itself later panelled with Baroque overmantel. Good panelling, plasterwork and chimneypiece details in drawing room, dining room and billiard room.
