Springburn Public Halls, 46 Keppochhill Road, 1899, William B Whitie
Whitie is better known for his Mitchell Library (see Central Glasgow Guide). Italian Renaissance, round-headed window between Ionic columns supporting a big pediment, all red ashlar. Original interior galleries and organ in wide plaster-vaulted main hall. A James Reid benefaction, built after his death in 1894, the seating capacity was 1,600. Converted to Sports Centre, 1963, now apparently abandoned and at risk.
