Archaeology Notes

NS85NW 67 from c.8458 5500 to Unlocated RX 3

The modern road might be on line of the possible Roman road from Belstane to Castlecary, E of Watsonmids (NS 8458 5500) and through Watsonfoot (NS 8454 8837). Traces of an ancient roadway can be seen on the N side of the Duro road, about 50yds E of its junction with the main highway from Watsonfoot to Allanbank (NS 8470 5793).

No trace of the road can be seen through Allanton (NS 8500 5771) to Salsburgh (NS 830 626, see map sheet NS86SW).
