Publication Account (1997)

This large, multi-phase rebuilding of the decayed centre of historic burgh represents an amalgam of the informality of smaller-scale infill projects such as Dunbar and Lerwick, and Modern ideals of open, 'comprehensive' redevelopment: Phase II includes a group of small, detached 4-store 'point blocks', while Phase III, with its heavy forms and small windows, reflects the ideas of 'cluster' planning revalent to the time. (Figs 4.6).

Information from 'Rebuilding Scotland, 1945-75', (1997).
