(Classified as steamship, with general cargo: former names cited as Bara, Netta and Markersdal, and date of loss as 8 October 1939). Vistula: this vessel was sunk by enemy 25 miles off Unst or 45 miles off Muckle Flugga, by [submarine] U37 at AF7974.

Registration: Gothenburg. 1018grt. Length: 65m. Beam: 10m.

(Location of loss cited as N61 15.0 W1 0.0).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The map sheet assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary, being derived from the unverified location that is cited by Larn and Larn. Whittaker cites two alternative locations for this loss, which is probably to be equated with the 'WW2 Swedish steamer sunk off Muckle Flugga' that is noted by Ridley.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 13 February 2003.

G Ridley 1992; R and B Larn 1998; I G Whittaker 1998.
