(NN 2855 8228) Sron an Duin (NAT)

OS 6" map, (1971)

Sron an Duin - 'Nose of the Dun' - a hillock (Ordnance Survey Name Book [ONB] 1870). The name implies the existence of a fortification but all that can be seen on air photogrphs (Visible on RAF air photograph 106G/Scot/UK/ 61: 3120-1; flown 8 May 1946) is a possible enclosure at NN 2855 8227.

Name Book 1870.

At the site indicated on the aerial photographs there are no artificial features of any description and a perambulation of the area yielded no indication of a dun or other artificial features.

Visited by OS (J M) 29 August 1974.
