The Ploughman's Society Hall, c.1830. Marking almost the high point of agricultural improvements in Aberdeenshire, it reflects in its quiet sophistication (squared diorite, tooled dressings) both confidence and vigour. Set foursquare on rising ground, two storeys, four bays, two middle doors and an external stair on west gable. A round-headed panel on the upper centre front contains a plaque of 1778, a (?)plough symbol and a coat of arms with initials AL, JG, MR (Leiths of Freefield who helped to defray some of costs of building). Restored, c.1980, Douglas T Forrest Architects.
