Field Visit (11 June 2001)

There is a kelp kiln on the top of a low promontory at Clach Alasdair. The kiln comprises a grass-grown rectangular trench that measures 4.2m in length by 1m in breadth and 0.2m in depth. The NE side of the trench is formed by a stony bank 1.3m in thickness but the SW side is barely discernible.
