Archaeology Notes

NN03SW 14 0120 3115.

NN 0120 3115. About 800 metres east of Taynuilt village, there is a small standing stone situated near the corner of an arable field 230 metres NW of the Oban-Dalmally road. It is of granite, roughly triangular in shape at the base and measures 0.75 by 0.60 by 0.55 metres at ground level. It is now reduced to a height of 1.2 metres. (c/f NN03SW 6)

RCAHMS 1975.

The stone, as described, is still in situ at this site.

Visited by OS (R D) 21 October 1971.

Field Visit (June 1969)

NN 012 311. About 800m E of Taynuilt village, there is a small standing stone situated near the corner of an arable field 230 metres NW of the Oban-Dalmally road. It is a granite boulder, roughly triangular in shape at the base, and measuring 0.75m by 0.60m by 0.55m at ground level. It now stands to a height of 1.2m but pieces have been split off in comparatively recent times and it may originally have been taller.

RCAHMS 1975, visited May 1969.
