Achara House, 1907 Remodelling of a 19th-century farmhouse of the Stewarts of Ardsheal for Charles Stewart, a wealthy lawyer. Modified in the late 1960s by Leslie Grahame MacDougall, who demolished the farmhouse and a c.1870-80 crowstepped entrance block, and replaced it with a bowed entrance porch. The architect of the baronial block is not recorded, but the influence of Lorimer is evident, supporting a family tradition that he met Stewart at Ardkinglas and sketched out the design on a napkin.
