Archaeology Notes

NM93SW 7 9210 3409.

(NM 9210 3409) Cairn (NR).

Slightly robbed in the centre, and no kerbing is visible, otherwise as described.

Surveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (DWR) 25 October 1971.

This cairn stands in level pasture between the railway and Achaleven Road. It appears as a grass-covered stony mound measuring 16 by 14 metres, and is 1.25 metres in height. An electricity pole has been erected on its east perimeter.

Activities

Field Visit (May 1971)

NM 921 341. This cairn stands at a height of about 15 m OD in level pasture S of the railway and some 40 m NW of the house called Cairnhill at Achaleven. It appears as a grass-covered stony mound measuring 16 m by 14 m and 1.25 m in height. An electricity-pole has been erected on its E perimeter.

RCAHMS 1975, visited May 1971.
