Accessing Scotland's Past Project

Duncan House probably dates to the early nineteenth century, although it is not depicted on John Wood's 1823 'Town Plan of Kelso'. Two storeys in height with an attic, the facade of Duncan House is faced with droved ashlar (blocks of dressed stone whose surface has a corrugated finish applied by the stonemason). Decorative features include a pilastered doorpiece, and raised quoins (edging stones at the corner of a building).
