Standing Building Recording (11 October 2019)

NT 80860 65560 A historic building survey was undertaken, 11 October 2019, prior to the renovation of the property (NT86NW 81).

Ivy Bank was built in 1846 by William Grant, son of Thomas Grant, who founded Grantshouse in the early 19th century. William lived in the house and ran the shop until his death in 1888, when it was taken over by his nephew Edward. The house has many original features such as fireplaces and timber panelling, specifically to the upper floor workshop above the shop.
