Accessing Scotland's Past Project

Eccles Tofts is a large farm, with an early nineteenth century farmhouse and a range of farm buildings and workers' cottages.

The farmhouse has classical detailing, with a large fanlight over the central entrance door which is surrounded by pilasters and a cornice. The two-storeyed structure is harled, with cream sandstone dressings.

The arrangement of buildings is typical of an improvement-period farm, with the farmhouse and its walled garden at the edge of the steading range. A row of farm cottages also lies to the east.
