The remains of the chapel consist of the grass-grown wall-footings of a small rectangular building measuring about 8.2 metres E-W and 4.1 metres transversely within walls about 1 metre thick. There are traces of an entrance towards the centre of the south wall but there are no identifiable remains within the building. Later cultivation has obliterated all traces of the burial ground, though gravestones were still visible in 1868-9. It has been suggested that the dedication of the chapel was to St Maelrubha.
