(NM 8146 3885) Cist (NR)
OS 1:10,000 map, (1975)
The remains of a cist measuring about 0.6 by 1.0 metres are visible at a point 35 metres SW of the summit of Barr Mor. The cist was originally constructed above ground and must have been protected by a cairn, but no trace of a cairn is now visible. The north side-slab measures 1.02 metres by 0.61 metres and is 0.61 metres deep, whilst the south side-slab measures 0.76 by 0.51 metres. The cist is aligned E to W. Loose slabs nearby may have formed the sides or cover of the cist. RCAHMS 1975, visited May 1968.
As described.
Surveyed at 1:10 000 scale.
Visited by OS (R D) 22 November 1971.
Field Visit (9 July 1943)
Just SW of the summit and across the stone dyke, the remains of a cist lying E and W project from the limestone ridge. The S side stone is 3ft long; 1ft 10in to the N of it is its counterpart, only 2ft 4in long and now rising 1ft 6in from the apparent floor of the cist. Lying loosely against these uprights is a slab 2ft 4in long, presumably the W headstone. Some broken fragments near the E end must represent the E headstone and the continuation of the N side-stone. S of the S stone is a slab 3ft 6in long on edge and partly embedded in turf that presumably served as cover-stone.

Field Visit (May 1968)
NM 814 388. The remains of a cist measuring about 0.6m by 1.0m are visible 35m SW of the summit of Barr Mor at a height of 125m OD (Name Book, No.22, p.153). The cist, which constructed above ground and must originally have been protected by a small cairn, is aligned E and W. The N side-slab measures 1.02m by 0.61m in length and depth and the S side-slab is 0.76m by 0.51m. There are several loose slabs near by which may have formed the sides or cover of the cist (TGAS, new series, ix (1937-40), 110-11).
