One of the ruins at Cnocan-buidhe is said locally to have been a school, though there appears to be no written evidence for this.

Information from NMRS (see Archive MS/534/1)

A township comprising eight unroofed, three roofed buildings, three enclosures and what may be the fragmentary remains of a field-system (NM 652 421 and NM 657 421), which is conjoined to the field-system of the township to the E (NM64SE 11), is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire, Island of Mull 1880, sheet lxx). Five unroofed buildings are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1976).
