Archaeology Notes

A Single-chamber rectangular (lectern) doocot, facing south. Built of rubble sandstone with carved surrounds and single string course. The roof has collapsed, exposing the sandstone slab nests inside. The wooden door (original?) survives in place. The doocot stands in what is now derelict ground at the edge of Cupar Trading Estate, and is next to the main east coast railway line. A nearby ruinous farm steading, likely associated with the same Prestonhall estate, is now used as part of a car scrap yard.
