Activities

Desk Based Assessment (October 2014 - March 2015)

CFA Archaeology Ltd undertook an archaeological desk-based assessment on behalf of Taylor Wimpey plc for a proposed residential housing development at Spencerfield Farm, Inverkeithing, Fife (NGR: NT 140 830 centred).

The desk-based assessment has demonstrated that the proposed development site has been used as farmland since the 17th century, with some limited 20th century military use.

The potential for earlier remains to survive within the proposed development site cannot be determined from the results of the desk-based assessment. In particular the probability that prehistoric or medieval remains are present as buried remains is considered to be unknown.
