Louther Skerry [name: ND 479 772].

Glasgow, 4th Sept. 'A brig, supposed to be the GLASGOW of Rothsay [Rothesay], struck upon the Loather Rock [Louther Skerry] in the Pentland Firth 27th ult., and sunk in eight fathoms water. Crew saved.'

(Classified as brig: no cargo specified, but date of loss cited as 27 August 1827). Glasgow: this vessel struck Louther Rock [Louther Skerry] and sank in 8 fathoms [16m].

Registration: Rothesay. Built 1818. 104 tons burthern. Length: 19m. Beam: 6m.

(Location of loss cited as N58 40. 8 W2 55.0).

The inclusion of this wreck by Larn and Larn within their section DC ('North-east Scotland') is anomalous. The Pentland Skerries fall within the administrative area of Orkney, and this wreck is assigned accordingly to the quasi-administrative area of Maritime - Orkney.
