Archaeology Notes

NJ30NE 88 c. 3740 0904

Nothing is visible of four 'march cairns', which stood in a area of poorly drained ground at the foot of the SE flank of Craig of Bunzeach and are depicted on a plan of the lands of Glencarvie dated 1766. Although the NW part of the moss in this area has been planted with conifers the SE part adjacent to the Sloganbuidh Burn is free of trees.

See: A Plan of the Lands of Glencarvie with the Hills and Pasture called the Bunzeach and other Contraverted Lines of Marches betwixt Capt. John Forbes of New and Chas. Anderson of Candacraig, made out from an Accurate Survey taken October 1766. (Held in Aberdeen University Library, MS 2769/I/132/6).

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 2 July 2002.
