Accessing Scotland's Past Project

An unusual survival in the village of Swinton is the K6 telephone kiosk that stands outside the Wheatsheaf Hotel in Main Street.

The K6 telephone kiosk is the official term used to describe the red, cast-iron telephone boxes that were once a common sight throughout Britain. The man responsible for designing these structures was Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, with this particular model of telephone box dating from 1935.
