Accessing Scotland's Past Project

A photograph taken in Main Street, Swinton, during the 1970s shows Nos 26 and 28.

At this time, this two-storeyed building housed a shop owned by W Craig, butcher. This occupied three central bays on the ground floor. The rest of the structure appears to have been in use as a residence at this time. The building is made of coursed rubble masonry, with a slated roof. Its chimney-stacks are of brick.
