The gate-lodge serving Belchester House was built in the first half of the nineteenth century. Situated to the south-west of the house, a bowed projection in the north-west wall of the house overlooks the head of the drive.
Built of sandstone masonry, the single-storeyed building has overhanging eaves below a slated roof. On the bowed part of the roof, decorative fish-scale slating is visible.
