Archaeology Notes

NM04NW 24 c048 483.

Two kitchen middens, the larger with pottery and shells, lie at a small patch of broken turf at the West end of Traigh Bhalla (NM 053 484) and close to Vaul hamlet (NM 048 483). Two hammer-stones and pottery, two pieces decorated, were found close-by.

E Beveridge 1903.

Although there are numerous deposit of shells along the shore no definite kitchen middens could be identified in the area.

Visited by OS (R D) 27 June 1972.
