This Chain Home Beam Radar station is situated on both sides of the B892 road at Borve Castle (NF75SE 12).

On the W side of the road is a surface shelter with another small brick building, the remains of hut bases can also be made out.

On the E side of the road behind Borve Castle is another building with a blast wall around it. A second similar building is depicted on the OS 1:10000 scale map (1972) immediately to the SW of Borve Castle.

J Guy 2002; NMRS MS 810/12, 105, 109-110

The Chain Home Beam Radar Station is visible on vertical air photographs taken in 1946 (CPE/Scot/UK 191, 4049-4050, flown 10 October 1946).

Eighteen structures can be seen, mostly Nissen type huts, on the photographs including the buildings with the blast walls noted above, which are possibly the electricity generating houses.

At NF 7785 5000 more military huts are visible, possibly for the accommodation of personnel. The site of these huts is now occupied by a caravan park. Another group of three huts can is also visible on the air photographs, on what is now the site of the School, Library , Museum and Territorial Army Centre.
