Shoemakers' Land or Cordiners' Building, 123-125 High Street, early 18th century
Handsome, substantial mansion, restored, 1975, by Gordon Duncan Somerville. The crest of the cordiners, inset into the façade, recalls how Linlithgow was second only to Perth for tanning and shoemaking. The building would be further enhanced by restoration of its original lime harl. No 129 High Street, is an early Victorian town house with outbuildings behind; now in use as offices. Note the oak-leaf, symbol of the tanners, carved above the door.

Publication Account (2000)
The incorporation of shoemakers had a house at what is now Nos 123- 127 High Street. This has been restored, with, for example, a red modern pantiled roof, but retains many of the original features and the carved armorial plaque of the cordiners on its facade.
