Williamscraigs, 1878

Rubbly baronial L-plan villa crammed with furious Scots detail - a hungry crowstepped dormer window, spikily conical roof to a tower. Entrance beneath a spurious reproduction of the great entrance to Fyvie Castle. Splendid garden pavilion, hexagonal and weatherboarded, with projecting Gothic window bays and curious clerestory.

Taken from "West Lothian: An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Stuart Eydmann, Richard Jaques and Charles McKean, 2008. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
