Bridgend Farm, early 19th century

Graceful Improvement farm, pavilion roof and thumping chimneystacks, pilastered porch, fanlit door, single-storey wings symmetrically disposed. Baronial steading, rubble, slated, with overscaled, crowstepped dormer windows. Converted to residential use with a replicated west range by James Fleming, 2003. Also, by the same architect, the sensitive restoration and conversion of Cauldhame, with its barn and horsemill, and the brick-built former Bridgend Primary School, 2007

Taken from "West Lothian: An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Stuart Eydmann, Richard Jaques and Charles McKean, 2008. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
