Bonnytoun House, c.1840, ?David Rhind
Gay villa blending mercantilism with romanticism on ancient site facing across to Linlithgow Palace. Flamboyant porch fusing 17th-century Renaissance with classical, leading into a house whose square plan is entirely concealed by its picturesque skyline - gables, finialed dormer windows and splendid octagonal chimneystacks. Cool late-classical interior with splendid staircase. Bonnytoun Farm, possibly contemporary, a seemingly single-storey ferme ornée, has all the characteristics of a late-Regency dower house. Bonnytoun Cottages, 1907, a row of four single-storey improved farm-workers' cottages, symmetrical, like Kingscavil, Arts & Crafts with sweeping roofs and small-paned windows.
