Archaeology Notes

NS98SE 160.01 9884 8135

A firebrick works supplying Kinneil Iron Works is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch and 25-inch maps (Linlithgowshire, 1856, sheet 1). Annotated as the Fire Brick Manufactory, the map shows a chimney, engine house and kiln.

The brickworks was later demolished when railway sidings were constructed as part of the Kinneil Colliery complex (NS98SE 81)
