(Location cited as NT 591 771). East Linton Station. Opened 1846 by the North British Rly. Formerly a two-platform through station, with the main offices on the down platform in a 2-storey building, on the T plan, with a castellated central feature, linked to a 1-storey wood and stone platform building. The main building, which contains a dwelling-house predates the railway, at least in part.
J R Butt 1976.
The Station House of c. 1845, now disused, has an advanced centre carried up to a battlemented pediment with dummy bartizans, and a hoodmoulded window over an octagonal columned doorpiece.

This intermediate station on the Edinburgh-Berwick on-Tweed portion of the (London-Edinburgh) East Coast Main Line was opened (as Linton Station) by the North British Rly on 22 June 1846. It was renamed East Linton Station in December 1864, and closed to regular passenger traffic on 4 May 1964. The line itself remains in regular use, and has been electrified.
