Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1862

NT 675 788 An archaeological watching brief and evaluation were carried out in advance of the construction of four residential homes on a plot of land where a 19th century iron foundry is recorded as once standing. A sandstone wall (16m in length, 0.9m high) was identified during the watching brief, and further investigated during the evaluation. No direct dating evidence was found, but it is surmised that the wall relates to the foundry. A modern concrete ramp was also noted during the watching brief, and is probably associated with later commercial buildings on the site, now demolished.
