NS 348 539 Building recording and archaeological monitoring were undertaken during the stripping out and refurbishment of five town properties.
20-22 The Cross. Externally a three-storeyed late 19th-century structure (NS35SW 62). The ground-floor shop retained a well-preserved late 19th-century post office interior; and rooms with decorative plasterwork at first-floor level. The N and S side walls incorporate earlier, 18th-century, masonry fabric.
