This intermediate station on the Glasgow, Barrhead and Kilmarnock Joint Rly was opened by that company on 26 June 1873. It closed to regular passenger traffic on 5 November 1962.

The current edition of the OS (GIS) MasterMap depicts the cited location as falling within an area which has been redeveloped fpr housing.
