This market stance is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1869, sheet lxvi) as a rectangular area of uncultivated ground measuring a little over 2 acres (0.8ha) in extent and containing what appears to be an unroofed rectangular building. By the end of the 19th century the stance had been incorporated into a sports ground (1901, sheet lxvi.SW), which remains in use today.
