(NJ 9338 2434) Urn found (NAT)

OS 6" map, Aberdeenshire, 2nd ed., (1901)

A small clay urn containing burnt ashes and bones was found near the centre of an excavation made for the foldyard at the Hill of Fiddes 'some years ago'. The urn was broken in being removed.

Name Book 1866.

A barn now covers the site where this urn was found. No further evidence could be obtained from local enquiry.

Visited by OS (RD) 20 March 1964.

The site of this discovery of an urn, which took place before 1866, is now occupied by farm buildings.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS, ATW), 28 January 1997.
